Winery Notes
Siduri, named for the Babylonian goddess of wine, is the result of our founders, Adam Lee and Dianna Novy’s, mutual love of Pinot Noir, and their dream that they could make great wines of their own. They spent years working at small, family-owned wineries and using any and all free time learning everything they could about growing grapes and making wine. In 1994, they released the inaugural vintage of Siduri to critical acclaim. Today, Siduri’s breadth and depth of Pinot Noirs is truly unique. We specialize in cool-climate Pinot Noir, producing single-vineyard designate wines from over twenty exceptional vineyard sites stretching from California’s Santa Barbara County to Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Our winemaking goal is to produce wine that best captures the distinct flavor and character of a given vineyard site. Whenever possible, we let the wine make itself. We do not want to do anything to the wine that isn’t absolutely necessary. We believe in bottling our wines un-filtered and un-fined. In the vast majority of cases we have been able to achieve this, with only a handful being filtered, and none of the Pinot Noirs being fined. We avoid these techniques as we believe they have the potential to strip a wine of its flavor. We believe that the best Pinot Noirs express their origins. But perhaps most importantly, we believe that wine should be a pleasure, that serious wine and serious fun aren’t mutually exclusive. So in our drive to make great Pinot Noir, we ultimately hope for something relatively simple—good wine to be enjoyed with good friends, good family and good food.
Tasting Notes
This red wine has upfront aromas of cranberry, fig, and Chinese Five Spice, along with eucalyptus. Flavors of fresh berries, plum and white pepper followed by a smooth texture and medium acidity.
Vineyard Notes
The Siduri Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir comes primarily from vineyards in the Sta. Rita Hills. This area produces some of the darkest and most concentrated Pinot Noirs from the entire state of California. Using a mix of whole cluster and destemmed grapes from these vineyards, they were blended in barrel until just the right mix was created. The goal was to make a truly compelling and immediately enjoyable Pinot Noir red wine that reflects Santa Barbara County.
